The Program

Schools that are aware of children experiencing food insecurity at home will refer students to the program.
A referral and a parental permission form are then submitted by the school. Food4Kids volunteers prepare the food packages and then deliver them to schools each Friday morning. To shield the child from any potential stigma stemming from food insecurity or receiving assistance, the packages are placed directly into the child's backpack once at the school. Regardless of how many children per family are receiving food packages, each child in the home receives their own package.
Each food package costs $10.00, with a cost of $400.00 to feed a child for the whole school year. As we are not in receipt of any core funding, we are entirely dependent on one-time grants and community donations.
